Medical coverage for Government Civilian

Hi all,

I have an opportunity to come work at Ramstein as a GS.  My wife has multiple sclerosis (MS) and needs access to a neurologist familiar with MS.

I'm retired Air Force on TriCare Prime with a referral for my wife to see an off-base neurologist.  The Landstuhl website shows a neurology clinic, but we haven't been able to reach an actual human to confirm they have MS experience.  I'm assuming I'd use TriCare while at Ramstein.

i'm still very early in the process and was never stationed overseas on active duty, so any info you could provide would be very helpful.

thanks in advance------->Al

Here is a listing of German hospitals/clinics which treat Multiple Sklerose.

http://www.multiple-sklerose-rw.de/Uni-Spezialkliniken.1161.0.html

Here's the web page for the Neurology Clinic at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. Verify your number against the number listed.

http://rhce.amedd.army.mil/landstuhl/services.cfm?MTFinfo_id=717

Hope this helps.

Do you have other health insurance coverage besides Tricare for your spouse?

Hans,

Thanks for the quick reply.  The Landstuhl site you posted has the same number I've called.  No one has yet answered and it then asks for an ID number to make an appointment.  I'll keep trying.

The listing of MS doctors will be very helpful if we want to go off-base.

For health insurance, I only have TriCare, but could possibly get on the federal employees health insurance program.  That's a good suggestion.
