Cheap and crappy furniture is now available without driving to Mannheim to get it! Oh, boy!

It might be faster to go to MA. The OPEL circle is now the death star.

I can't wait to see the place in November. Not!

Actually it doesn't open until 13 Aug. IKEA's OK for small items i.e. bathroom cabinets and such. Housewares too. And I find the meatballs(köttbullar) oddly addictive. I will be avoiding the area for a few weeks, of course.

The meatballs are awesome. I know what you mean. I heard they are made of horse meat, which is very tasty and actually better than meat from a cow.

And more expensive. So I'm not sure why the switch.

I don't know about the price. When I go to the fairs, such as the big one in Kaiserslautern, I don't see beef. I usually see horse meat. I was under the impression that beef was more expensive.

Which fair? I've been here a long time and unless you go looking for horse meat you won't see it. It's much more expensive than bed as its really rare and hard to find. There only one butcher in KL that offers it.

I went to the Kaiserslautern fair. The one in April/May. Definitely had horse. It was a horse burger. The sign said it was horse. I suppose it could have been rat or some kind of other rodent.

Official police advisory http://www.presseportal.de/blaulicht/pm/117683/3095614

Avoid the Opel circle for the foreseeable future if possible...

You'd think it was the grand opening of Disneyland Kaiserslautern. Are people really so desperate for something to do that an Ikea would cause this much of a traffic problem? Never mind. I know the answer to this question.

Any opportunity to do something other than watch the grass grow or paint dry is overly welcome.

I don't know how a helicopter is going to help.

They'll probably mount a speed camera to it and have Polizei jump from the helicopter to collect the fine.
