Temporary (3 months) housing

All,

I am PCSing to K-town in early Oct 15. My family, due to my necessity to conduct TDY enroute and the school conflict will not join me until after Christmas. My question is, does temporary (3 months or so) housing exist. Paying for rent at Ft. Rucker for my family, I don't want to break the bank on the German end. I haven't been stationed in Germany for 10 years or so and never found myself in this situation. Any input would be much appreciated.

Absolutely. Send an email to Hans at TDYhomes. He'll take the entire responsibility off of your shoulders and take great care of you. I will PM you his email address. When you speak to Hans, let him know he still owes me (Sam) a beer.

When I pcs'd to the States my wife stayed in Germany until I found a house. I was paid per diem for me in the U.S. and for her in Germany. So we were both covered. I just had to have my orders say she was delayed.

I can't imagine without a reason, be it TDY, high school stabilization, or another matter that the Army will pay me for the hardship.

It essentially comes down to my decision. Do I pull my kids from their school in AL after 4 weeks, or do I wait until a programed pause in the school year which is December.

So, thanks for input I certainly will notify the POC.
