Can any recommend a good place to live?

I'm PCSing to Ramstein in February and my husband and I are looking at the different villages that you can rent in but without google street view i'm lost. Can anyone recommend a nice quiet village that isn't too far from base, and also offers larger yards? We want to raise chickens and possibly a goat or 4... so something that is in an agricultural zone, if zoning works like that in germany..? I don't even know if we can even have chickens lol.
Anyways, its myself, my husband, and our <1yr son and we just want some place quiet, and charming, and safe. Is this pretty much every small village around base, or are some villages sketchy?

Most villages have what you are asking for. Give Robert Mitchell a call and tell him I (Sam Dominic) sent you. You can find his info at http://mitchell-investment.de/.

very interesting with the chicken and the goats...!
recommanding: Reuschbach, Rehweiler, Matzenbach, Mittelbrunn, Gerhardsbrunn, Eulenbis, Kollweiler, Jettenbach, Reichenbach-Steegen, Martinshöhe, Rosenkopf, Schrollbach (has goatfarming already) or Obermohr (where i am from).
the chicken around the house - if there are not to many can work out (if you landlord do not mind about the backyard - after chicken = no grass no more) and mind fox and others - about the goat
just rent a patch of land - should be not to hard. Ask your Landlord - if he is local he might know the posibilities... like me in my village.

have a good time !!! and good luck

What is the best site to begin looking for homes to own in the KMC area?

We'd like to see if any new homes are available and what the price range might be.

We appreciate any help in that regard!

DIWIL - Are you familiar with Reuschbach? I noticed you listed it first so thought you might be. This is where I am planning to buy a house if all the financing works out. Seems like a great little village, hoping I can get good internet. Neighbors have chickens and ducks :-)

Thanks, Diwil! That information will help me get a head-start.

I don't know if I have the job yet...but I'm planning like I do!

to Kyhoods: Reuschbach I do like a lot!!
as well high Internetspeed now, good air (up in the hills) and quiet (if you like that).....
if you did not find your house there.... you can check out the Banks - Kreissparkasse Kaiserslautern, Volksbank Glan-Munchweiler if they have some to sell (in the new building-area, if someone run out of Money) - or you can ask the Mayor of Niedermohr, Mr. Rinder. He is from the Reuschbach. Maybe he know, who like to sell.
If you coming from Obermohr - cross the mainroad, go uphill to the top.... this view Show you, how pretty the village is placed.......
goooooood luck, Kyhoods!

to Oplaw11 you are very wellcome!!

good luck!

DIWIL, thanks. Glad to hear they now have high speed internet in Reuschbach. I'm pretty sure we already have our house there, I have made an offer and am waiting to hear back from the owner. It is really beautiful up there.

Thanks again!

My neighbor lived her for 5 years and all of sudden his job was finished and he got transferred to Colorado, now he is stuck with the house in Germany and trying to sell it with no luck. He wants 240k euros for it. its a duplex with only one side that he owned in obermohr. It's a big house with 4 floors and ok yard on main road.

You should tell him to list it on Ramstein Yard Sales / Bookoo. I didn't see it on there when I was looking, anyway decent homes seem to sell fast on there, at least most of the ones I called about were all pending sale. Especially for sale by owner.

Without starting a brand new post, I just wanted to know if anyone is familiar with these areas: Quirnbach, Schellweiler, Kusel, Konken and Alteglan. I am going to view some homes there and was wondering if the areas are good for kids, have local butchers/bakery and quiet. Konken, Schellweiler and Quirnbach look to be small and nice, but want to hear your opinions. Thanks...

Most villages have the amenities you are asking about. If not, then you will find it one village away.

What I suggest is using Google Maps in street view to look at a location. You can take a virtual tour of a village to see what is there.

Thanks for the quick response. Unable to see the areas with street view. Seems on maps that everything is usually near another village, which is good.
