I have just moved into a new house a few weeks ago and am currently waiting for all the utility welcome letters so that I can go to the UTAP office and register. I received mail from Pfalzwerke today saying I owe 171 euro and 300 euro for utility deposits.
I know that with UTAP, I will not have to pay these deposits. Just wondering if anyone knows if these amounts are how much I will also be paying monthly...or is this some type of calculation the company makes? Just trying to figure out how much I might be paying monthly. Thanks in advance for any help possible!
The 171 euro figure is likely an estimate based upon either the prior tenant or the living area of the house and will stay in effect until January when the annual reconciliation happens. You'll either get money back or a bill plus a rate increase for 2015. Energy isn't getting any cheaper so I'd assume the latter. Of course, it depends on factors such as family size, personal preferences with regard to heat, amount of electricity/water use, weather factors, and how well-insulated the house is. I'd expect we might get a refund come January 2015 due to the mildest winter in 40 years but do I really think that's gonna happen? Bwahaha!
