FMO information

Hello all. we are headed that way for our 1st oconus pcs in June. This may sound silly but here is my question :
Has anyone used a loaner mattress from FMO while waiting on HHG?
I am actually thinking of rolling up an airbed and mailing it ahead of time, the thought of a loaner mattress that God knows who has slept on grosses me out lol.
Hopefully HHG will arrive by the time we find a home and move out of TLF. Hubby says just to put a mattress zip cover and we'll be fine

Thanks!

also for those who got there quite recently . . . how long did your UAB take? TMO is quoting is 45+ days . . . what's the point if it takes that long?!

We used the furniture provided by FMO. We just covered the mattress with plastic before putting sheets on it.

Edit: I have a really screwed up back, and the FMO mattress we got was like sleeping on a bed of concrete. I slept like a baby. My wife, on the other hand, celebrated the arrival of our own mattress.

Our experience as well. We like softer beds and to top it off, they lost our memory foam mattress! So we were somewhere around 6 months on the FMO bed before we special ordered another memory foam. I ended up renting camping mattresses from ODR to soften the FMO bed.

SHIP your air bed and sheets!

Our UAB was about the same timeline, however it was way later than that!! Just a few weeks prior to our main shipment IIRC.

lol. I am maybe neurotic. I think we will buy a mattress cover here (are the FMO beds US or German spec?) to save cost and have it at hand. I know my back will not tolerate extended use of an airbed. My wonderful Army hubby tolerates anything, "it's better than being in the field or deployed . . . " yadda yadda something to that effect.

oh, that irks me. what is the point? With a mass exodus at our duty station here, our UAB is being picked up a week after HHG and the appointment dates are slim to none.
Wish we could send our UAB now! I am definitely going to suck it up and not pack much clothes in my suitcase and reserve that space for some bedding.
Thinking I can get a mattress topper over there for the same cost as shipping the airbed.
