Army Europe e-books?

Hello! I was trying to borrow an epub book from the online library to read on my nook... But it's downloading as a .acsm file, and will not open on my reader. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I found this using Google. Hope it helps.

From the above link:

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 340 comments I think the problem is that your book is saved as an ACSM file. The Nook accepts EPUB, PDB, and PDF files. There is a site called Calibre where you can convert files. I haven't used it personally, but many people say that it is really easy to use. Maybe you should try this one out?

Hi LaughterRX, I think I can help you!! First, I need to know which database you are using: Army Digital Media Library, Safari, Ebscohost??? Which Nook are you using??

[SIZE=5]FOR ARMY DIGITAL MEDIA LIBRARY

First off, please check your compatibility here:
http://www.overdrive.com/drc/ebook-only/

Second, do you have ADE (Adobe Digital Editions). If not, follow these steps:
http://help.overdrive.com/article/0003/How-to-install-Adobe-Digital-Editions-in-Windows

OR

http://help.overdrive.com/article/0331/How-to-install-Adobe-Digital-Editions-on-a-Mac

You MUST have ADE in order to access the book. An activated Adobe ID on your computer and your ebook reader. This should be the same ID on both devices. Then do this:

-Connect the eBook reader to your computer.
-Open ADE on your computer. Make sure you're in 'Library' view.
-Click on an eBook, then drag it over to your device.
-Once the transfer is complete, you can disconnect your device and start reading.

PLEASE SEE SCREENSHOTS!

FOR EBSCOHOST (FORMERLY KNOWN AS NET LIBRARY):

Downloading eBooks to Nook from Ebscohost

In order to download an ebook from Ebscohost to your computer or Nook, Adobe Digital Editions version 1.7.1 or higher is required. This free software can be downloaded from: http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions. Because of the digital rights management (DRM) protection, you will also be prompted to authorize your computer and your Nook with an Adobe ID.
After downloading the software and the authorization process is complete, attach the USB cord to your computer (must be a Windows or MAC computer) and Nook and go to the library home page at: www.library.eur.army.mil

Go to the research tab and go to Ebscohost, it's on alphabetical order.
Choose “eBooks on EBSCOhost” Create an account or sign in using a previously created login.
Search by author, title or subject.
Select the title and click “Download (Offline)”.
Select a checkout period (in days) from the dropdown menu and then click on the “Checkout & Download” button. The ebook is added to the checkout area of the folder, accessible from the upper right corner of the EBSCOhost interface.
A window will pop up saying, “The eBook was checked out successfully”. A second window will open with, “Open with Adobe Digital Editions (default)” – click “OK” and your new ebook is opened and displayed with Adobe® Digital Editions (ADE).
You may now read your selection on your computer or load it onto your Nook by going to the upper left side of the ADE window and clicking on the “Books” icon. This will open a folder showing all the ebooks you currently have checked out.
To add your new selection to your Nook, click on the title and drag it to the Nook icon found under “Bookshelves” on the lower left side of the ADE window.
Close all windows and find the Nook icon on your desktop or under “My Computer”.
Right click on the icon and from the drop down menu select “eject”. The Nook icon will disappear and your new ebook will be on your Nook screen. You may safely unplug your Nook from the computer and enjoy your new book.

[SIZE=5]FOR SAFARI:

Use the browser in your device and read from your device. It's not compatible with your Nook. Not sure if you're able to access the internet with your Nook....

I'm using army digital media I believe...

I'm not sure which version nook I have. It's from 2011, and it's not a tablet, purely an e-reader.

Here's the short answer :

Here is the trick: The "acsm" file is just the KEY to get access to your new ebook... so is like this --- key + door = ebook

your key: acsm (file)

your door: is the adobe digital edition
http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/

your ebook: double click in your acsm (file)
"AFTER YOU INSTALL THE ADOBE DIGITAL EDITION OF COURSE"

Laughter, go into your device. It should tell you the version you have. Also, please send me a screenshot of the database you're using.

Thanks!

So, in order to download books to your device, you use a cord? You don't have wifi capability or internet on your device.

If so, you need to download ADE onto your computer that you use to transfer the books to your device.
