Places that take a VAT form.

Last weekend we went out to the outlet mall. We tried to use a VAT form at Tom Tailor...no go. They knew exactly what it was but would not take it. They don't have to - got it - but it might be cool to get a list going of places where you've had success using a VAT form.

Globus
Real
Saturn
Media Market
Hornbach
Ikea
VW -Rittersbacher and Gebert (take your own oil)
Atelco (computer stuff)
Mobil Martin
Kaefer's (near Hahn Airport)

Unless specified, prices usually do NOT include the VAT, correct? So the listed price is the price you'll pay (you just won't have an extra 19% added)?

We're looking at furniture and my wife is saying the VAT is included in the price, so take 19% off of the listed price. I think she's mistaken.

Sorry - she's right. Listed or advertised price is usually with VAT.

It's also not 19% off the price. The VAT is added at 19% but you can't simply subtract 19% because the price is higher. You either divide the price by 1.19 or subtract 16% to get the VAT free price.

Does anyone know if Toom Baumarkt accepts VAT forms? There is one between Landstuhl and Hauptstuhl.

Yes, pretty sure we bought a patio set there with VAT form.

I appreciate the good G2! I was looking at a TV yesterday, and I think I come out better than the BX with the VAT.

I'm not sure I would buy a TV from TOOM. Amazon.de, Saturn or Media Markt all take VAT forms and have a better variety. Also, at Media Markt ask for a 10% discount....they'll usually give it to you without question.

Thanks, Bergman! That is really good to know. Every little bit helps (both money saved and info gained).

If you do decide to get a TV from Amazon.de, please use our link.

Wow, thats the first time I've ever heard of a business not taking a VAT Form. Most other places in the Kaiserslautern does.
