Info re rental property:

Greetings. Can anyone advise on what to expect from off-base rental housing with regards to kitchen appliances? Will there be any or will I need to provide them? How about carpeting? Are floors generally carpeted or should I bring my area rugs? Are there likely to be curtains or not? Also, is it easier to get an apartment or a house? Many thanks.

Some kitchens have ovens, fridge, ect. Military will issue you a stove, fridge, washer, dryer, if it is not provided.

Rugs depend on the house. I would bring the area rugs. The places I have seen don't have them.

Curtains are different here then in the states. They are very long. We were blessed because previous people put up curtain rods and we use those with our curtains.

We rented an older home (over 100 years old) and it had smaller square windows, in the kitchen area there were lace cafe curtains provided and upstairs in the landing, there were white lace curtains. It is normal for lace or sheer curtains to be used, rather than heavy ones that block out light. It all depends on the landlord, what they choose to provide for you.

We are leaving some curtains that we purchased for the living room and one of the bedrooms that gets the most sun, as we will have no need for them, and the new tenants are thrilled!

Rugs...definately, it cuts down on the echo in the house and provides warmth in the cold months, not to mention comfort.
