Help...Ramstein Base Housing Info *Town Houses" Needed

Ok. Just was offered an on base town home. Want to get some info from peeps who are living in them now. Don't get to go inside and look around until Tuesday since Friday and Monday are German Holidays. Rode by. Ok so give me some info. What do you like, what do you not like? Do you know the square footage of the 3 bed rooms? Cable tv? Internet? Do you go with TKS for internet/tv/phone? Can you go with another company? I need fast internet. The DSL I have now is SUPER SLOW.... Cost wise do you think you are better on base or off? We will probably loose about 300 a month moving on base. Ok peeps. Shoot. And if you have pics of the inside of the houses let me know. Thanks to all in advanced. And hopefully (if the wife likes the house) we will be moving on base in about 30 days.

I suppose the question I would have is, which base are you speaking of? Ramstein or Vogelweh? I have no idea how base housing works, or what is available, so I am curious as to which you are speaking of.

The title says he is looking at Ramstein.

OP, are you talking about Officer Housing? I too am interested on seeing these homes. All I hear about is stairwell housing but how are the townhomes? Anybody?

If it is officer housing, they are pretty nice. A friend lives in them.

I don't know where the officer housing is, but the houses I have been in, who are enlisted, the houses are nice. The wait is like over a year to get in. I think you can find more sq footage off base, but then you don't have the convenience of being so close to work (unless you are in mackenback or something lol). I have seen a BRAND NEW 4 bedroom which is NICE. It's new, clean, has a garage, and a nice flat yard. I like that it looks like "hometown USA", because everyone can hang the american flag on their house...I miss that a lot. The kitchens are nice in both the 3 and 4, but both have small living rooms. but it is nice, since most are brand new and they are building more.

Good to hear! I wish somebody had pictures, I have seen pics of the remodeled stairwell and it looks really nice. Thanks for the info!

The next time I am by the housing office, I will ask them if I can take some photos. If so, I will post them.

Make your requests for what you guys want photographed so I can get what you want, if they let me.

So if there is no housing available and you move off post will the government move you back on post when housing is available free of charge.

I am pretty sure they will.

But, if you move to a house off base, you will have your rent and utilities reimbursed. At that point, there is a VERY long wait before you'd get base housing.

Frankly, being off base is very nice.
