Gas or oil heat?

Can anyone comment on the pros/cons of gas vs. oil heat? Is there any problem with air quality or odor with oil heat? Any comments would be most appreciated.

Thank you for your time!

Just my opinion, but gas is way more convenient. No worry about waiting for the oil truck to come and refill the tank. The gas is always there when you want it.

When we were looking for our house, we were told to get gas because of the convenience.

I am hoping that -Lee- will chime in because I am pretty sure his home uses oil.

Gas is also going to be naturally cleaner than oil.

We have oil heating. We don't mind it; but, we have a 10,000 liter tank. It was a rough winter so we used about 2500 liters this year. The normal for a house like ours is about 3000. You have to watch the prices, exchange rate, and different things when ordering.

I asked, when they came to check our chimney, it is about 50/50 for gas/oil here in Germany.

I wouldn't worry as much about gas/oil. I would worry more about how well insulated the house is, can you use the fireplace if there is one, what were the previous people had. We were burned by the previous tenants because they wasted everything. Our electric and all was higher rated because of them. They also lied to us about their oil usage. We are very conservative though.
