Hefersweiler--A nice place to live?

I am curious to know if anyone has experience living in/near Hefersweiler? Is it a nice community to live in ? Any thoughts or comments are welcomed.

Thank you!

Hefersweiler is pretty close to the middle of nowhere.

Is it a nice community to live in ?

I guess it is pretty much of a near death experience to live in a village like that, when moving there from a city.

At least there is a soccer field in village. I doubt there is a bakery, restaurant, pub, bank or post office.

Looks like a pretty good place to live if you like to be secluded from the rest of the world (except for the fact that it looks like there is DSL available). If you like to live for yourself, or if you want to make sure that your wife needs to drive 20km to buy some milk `n eggs (or phone you at work to order you to buy it on your way home), or if you want your children to whine and crab all day long cause they are bored, it is the perfect place to be. ;)

When I drive through the part of the world that is around Hefersweiler, I get this kind of "Will Smith - I am legend - feeling".

Soon after that you`ll get the feeling that people do stare at you. You think that because they do stare at you. They do it because they have nothing else to do in this place of planet.

1. They do have a shepherd dog association there. - Needless to say there are no sheeps

2. They have a farmers and vintners association there. - No vintners anywhere around (simply cause its to cold for vines there)

3. They have a fishing association there. I do not see any stream or pond anywhere in this village or the villages around.

Something tells me this to stay away from places like this.

I mean, there can be nice neighbors or nice housing, but there is nothing else. It is not like, you hop in the car, drive 5 minutes and you are in the supermarket, or pharmacy, or doctor.

Like, you have a day of and decide to fix something at home. Drive 20 minutes to buy some nails or screws and drive 20 minutes back home. Working for 10 minutes, you need something else you god damn can not find now. 2 more 20 minute drives.

Or your children play soccer or learn to play piano or something else. Not even 1 thing that can be solved in some minutes.

If you are used to live secluded, and are therefore used to organize your buyings etc. pretty good, villages like Hefersweiler could be a good deal, but people used to the convenience of living in a city could get a pretty freaky experience out there.

But hell, at least it has DSL connection.

We lived there for 16+ years!

I sent you a P/M on the other site where you posted.

Plan on moving back sometime in the future.

Though there may not be a grocery store or bank in the village there are both five minutes down the road. There is however a bakery in town along with a small store.

If you want to immerse yourself in the German culture this is the place. If you want to live five minutes to the base/post and never learn German or about the customs then this is not the place you want to live.
