Rainbow Farm Kennel

I have mentioned Rainbow Farm Kennel before, but it is worth mentioning again since I just picked up my dog and cat after a week long stay.

To give you an idea of what Rainbow Farm is like, let me compare to the kennel I use in the U.S.

When we go to the kennel in the U.S., my dog will drop to the ground and refuse to go inside without being dragged. She absolutely hates it.

I had to board my dog and cat at two different times this summer. Both times they boarded with Peter at Rainbow Farm Kennel. The first time for a week, the second time for a few days. When I picked up the dog and cat from boarding the first time, my dog looked at me as if I was nuts for coming to get her. She was having a great time playing with her kennel mate and really having too good of a time to bother with me. If she could speak, she would have asked to stay.

When I took the dog and cat back for the second time, my dog nearly broke her leash dragging me to get inside quicker.

I am pretty convinced that my dog thinks the kennel is a resort. She may be right. The kennels are huge. There is plenty of space to play. Each kennel has a doggy door so the dogs can leave the kennel area to go outside to "use the facilities." There is also a lot of play time. When I went to pickup my dog the first time, instead of coming with me, she turned another corner because she thought she was going out to play.

Anyway, in the U.S. I feel horribly guilty about leaving my pets at the kennel. When I drop them off here at Rainbow Farm, I actually feel good about leaving them. I have absolutely no problem leaving my pets at Rainbow Farm.

When you call Rainbow Farm, tell Peter that EverythingKMC sent you. I don't get anything, but I'd like him to know of my recommendation if you would not mind.

Peter at Rainbow Farm can be reached at 06371-914619 -- VAT form accepted.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Rainbow Farm in any manner. I just sound like a commercial because I am so happy with them.

I'm looking for some more kenneling recommendations for the weekend of May 25-28th, 2012. Any other suggestions? Rainbow Farm is full with a wait list of 8 dogs already. I saw the post about the Farm Kennel (obviously not going there). We are staying in TLF and would consider a good in house sitter if there's a decent option for that. Would have to run that by lodging of course. We are going to Kopenhagen for the weekend and would take our dogs with us if we can't come up with a better option. Thanks for your help.

Did you put yourself on the waiting list? Eight dogs ahead of you is not bad. I've been 12+ deep on the waiting list and still got a space. Lots of people either cancel, or are really rude and don't even bother to show up. Spaces open.

Having said that, this kennel has been recommended to me, although I have never used them. I know nothing about them.

Rainbow Farm is FANTASTIC! I am always leery leaving my dog. I hate that I can't take her with us on our adventures. She loves and I mean LOVES Peter and Christiane. When we get the Rainbow Farm my dog jumps out of the car and runs. Jumping up and down, runs up to Christiane and gives her tons of love.
The last time I took our dog in she had a foot issue. I had taken her to the vet and let Christiane know what the deal was and I left her with puppy aspirin. (Our dog ended up having a broken toenail and she was being very dramatic and limping everywhere the vet gave her aspirin thinking she had muscle damage) I asked that if they noticed her limping to give her the aspirin. When we came back from our holiday Christiane let me know that our dog had been fine, not limping and never had to give her anything.
They always make sure that if your dog shares a kennel with another dog, that the dogs get along with each other. They all have access to the outside and are run regularly. These people know your animals. They care for them like they are their own. While in Germany I will never leave our four legged family member with anyone else.

Based on what I've read here about Rainbow Farm Kennel, I'm beginning to think they give them crack with their food. LOL! Seriously, this is good info to have. When we get there, we'll be bringing our Irish Setter with us and this knowledge will come in handy. I've read all the other posts about bringing dogs into Europe and this is the only question I hadn't found an answer to until now. Thanks for posting this.

Please tell Peter I say hello when you get to Rainbow Farm. He'll remember my dog, Merlot (Yorkie - name is pronounced like the wine).

Been using rainbow farms for two years for our dog during short or long events.

No issues. At all. Peter is professional at all times and does care for all the pets in his facility.

I just made lodging for an entire month for three cats at Rainbow Farms. Peter was even able to work out a separate kennel for one high-strung (translate - "mean") kittie! It's good to know my pets will not be traumatized after the long flight. I believe if you are going to be a pet owner then the pets should be happy and well taken care of.

Tell Peter that I say hello, when you see him. It has been a while, so I doubt he'll remember my name, but he'll definitely remember my dog, Merlot (like the wine), and my cat, Rex. Peter used to spoil the hell out of my dog, and in turn, Merlot loved being at Rainbow Farm.

Did you tell Peter you found him on this site? I need to call him to say hello.

No, but I will tell him and mention you and Merlot to him. Thanks!

Hi! I'll be landing in Ramstein at the end of the month and need to board my dogs, Beagles, thanks to the on post hotel not having pet rooms available.

What would I be look at as far as daily rates to board two dogs?

Thanks

I chose to get temporary lodging with TDYHomes.com, versus paying 600 Euro for two cats at the Rainbow farms. Put less strain on my pets and allowed me not to worry as I house-hunted over a three to four month timeframe.

Considered that, but my sponsor will be driving me around daily until I get settled somewhere and it's easier for him if I live on post. Not to mention, I don't think i'll need more than a week to find a place and get paperwork signed.

A week? That would be record time, unless you are doing the legwork before you arrive.

Am I being unrealistic? I've selected homes I plan on seeing and signing a contract with one as soon as I can. My only question is I don't know where my opportunity to find a home falls in the in processing schedule. I can find a home and sign a lease the same day.

I suppose it can be done, but I've never seen it done. Kaiserslautern is not the easiest PCS. For whatever reason, at times it appears that they make it difficult on purpose.

I don't know who you are dealing with for a house, but if you called Robert Mitchell, you'll be fine. I can't speak for anyone else.

I hope you are able to meet your expectations, but reality is that it will take more than a day. More like a week, minimum.

If you really want to find a nice place and not be ripped off, I highly suggest you give Robert a call. Let him know Sam sent you. We're friends, but I do not recommend him because of that. I recommend him because he is the best at what he does. Seriously.
