Looking for a Home? Know Your School Districts

When you start looking for off base housing, one of the things to consider is the school your child(ren) will be attending, and whether or not you can get bus service.

Just as an example - if you find a house in Quiedersbach, the schools would be Vogelweh Elementary and Kaiserslautern Middle/High Schools.

As of this writing, the attached file will help you decide where to live based upon the school you wish your child(ren) to attend.

This list is still current as of the 2011-2012 school year. If I haven't updated this, don't worry. This has been the same since man lived in caves.

This is extremely helpful! Do you know if this document is still current, or if there have been changes?

Thanks for posting this. From what I've read, I think we want Kaiserlautern HS so this will be a big help.

KHS is where my son goes. He likes it a lot, and his grades are good. he works hard to get good grades because the teachers are not pushovers. Good education, in my opinion.

are the schools just k-12 or do they have head start

They have a sure start. If you look at the Kaiserslautern elementary page, it will tell you the qualification for Sure start.

thank you so much!! im getting so nervous because we dont leave the states until the 16 and we still have to find a place and register! i hate last min!!

As long as you have the qualifications, apply. You really can't do much until you get here and get a house. But, you can just look around.

It will all work out.
