Default Questions on the REAL Test but Not on the Practice Test

If you are aware of any questions that are on the USAREUR driver license test that are not on the practice test, please let us know by posting the info below.

We have found that the material on the real test, although in the study guide called AE Pamphlet 190-34 and USAFE Pamphlet 31-206, and/or in the Driving in Germany video may not be a part of the practice questions provided.

We would like to compile an accurate list of questions with the correct answers, that you have found on the real test, but are not on the practice test.

I do wish to clarify up front that this is not a form of cheating. This is a form of studying. When you go to take the real test, you will be armed with nothing more than your knowledge and a No2 pencil to mark your answers.

We are here to help you pass your test the first time.

Default Blood Alcohol Content - Suspension of Your License

It is very important that you know the material in the video titled "Driving in Germany" available for viewing at USAREURpracticeTest.com.

For the real test you will need to know that if you are stopped by traffic police and you have a BAC (blood alcohol content) of .82, your license will be suspended for 180 (one hundred eighty) days.

Default Child Restraint Equipment

For the test you need to know that children seated in the rear seat that are shorter than 150 centimeters (4 feet, 11 inches) or who are 12 years old or younger must be secured by the proper restraint equipment suitable for the child.

The exam was more difficult than I expected, with 10-15 questions that I had not seen before on the practice exams. I passed with a score of 96 percent after reading the study guide once, taking the complete practice exams twice, and going over areas I missed again. Yet, I've driven in Europe before and was already familiar with the signs. I recommend studying for at least 8-12 hours if want to pass the first time. There are 100 questions and 25 of those are on road signs. You must get 85 questions correct to pass.

Read the study guide carefully, especially about base rules and penalties, and you will be able to make a good guess on questions you haven't seen before. Good luck!

It is not just about the study guide and practice test. You also must watch the video. The video has answers to several questions as well. The site stresses to watch the video, but the person narrating the video makes it near impossible to stay awake for the entire thing.

Congrats on passing the first time!

I kid you not. Someone could get very rich if they could find a way to market these videos as some kind of insomnia cure. Videos in a Bottle, perhaps? Watching the videos made me near comatose. But, you must watch them and know the info presented in the videos to do well on the test.

Do you mean .082? Because if I am not mistaken, someone with a .82 BAC would most likely be dead.... that would mean 82% of that person's blood content is alcohol.

Take a look at module 9 of the video. It says .80-.99 is 180 days. On the test they ask about .82, so they want you to know that this is in the range of .80-.99 per 1ml of blood. You could be asked about a different level, so be sure you know the three ranges for disciplinary action.

I did screen captures of info regarding blood levels from the video.

Arrow Questions on the test that you need to know

You will also need to know :

- There is a 7 day suspension for not wearing a seatbelt.

- You may pass a bus at 5 kph (walking speed)

- Tires may not protrude out of wheel wells.

- Do not drink alcohol for 6 hours after an accident.

- With a B.A.C of .5 - .79, there will be a 90 day suspension of license.

- B.A.C of .8 + there will be a mandatory revocation of license.

Being that I am a MP this is my bread and butter, I have over 50 DUI related arrests and about a 95% conviction rate.

There are several different units in use around the world for defining blood alcohol concentration. Each is defined as either a mass of alcohol per volume of blood or a mass of alcohol per mass of blood (never a volume per volume). 1 milliliter of blood is approximately equivalent to 1.06 grams of blood. Because of this, units by volume are similar but not identical to units by mass. In the U.S. the concentration unit 1% w/v (percent weight/volume, equivalent to 10g/l or 1g per 100ml) is in use.

This is not to be confused with the amount of alcohol measured on the breath, as with a breathalyzer. The amount of alcohol measured on the breath is generally accepted to be proportional to the amount of alcohol present in the blood at a rate of 1:2100. Therefore, a breathalyzer measurement of 0.10 mg/L of breath alcohol converts to 0.021 g/210L of breath alcohol, or 0.021 g/dL of blood alcohol (the units of the BAC in the United States)

United States unit is 1 percent (%) BAC by volume, Dimensions 1/100 g/mL = 1 cg/mL, 9.43 mg/g, 217.4 mmol/

Germany unit is 1 permille (‰) BAC by mass, Dimensions 1/1000 g/g = 1 mg/g, 1.06 mg/mL, 23 mmol/L

In closing don't read into the question its correct different country different measurements.

Great info, mcampb9107.

I really think it is just so much easier not to drink alcohol if I am going to be driving. It is not worth the hassle or risk of being in an accident or hurting myself or others.

Real Test Questions seem drawn from the 16NV2010 "Drivers Handbook and Examination Manual for Germany" pp 15-33. Specific recalled questions are:

T/F Drivers must slow down before entering a curve, maintain slower speed in the curve, and accelerate at the end of the curve. [T]

T/F When driving at night, drivers must drive at speeds that will allow them to stop safely within the range of their vehicle's headlights. [T]

T/F Fog and the lack of speed limits on autobahns greatly increase chances for accidents. [T]

T/F Unexpected patches of thin ice are common on bridges, underpasses, and roads through forests. [T]

T/F To recover from a skid, the driver should steer in the direction the rear of the vehicle is skidding and pump the brakes lightly. [T]

T/F Changing gears while driving downhill may cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. [T]

T/F Germany has two types of speed limits: Posted Limits and Unposted Limits. [T]

T/F The speed limit on all US Forces property is 30 KPH unless otherwise posted. [T]

T/F Outside of city limits, German traffic regulations establish a permanent speed limit of 100 KPH. [T]

T/F Autobahns have a minimum speed limit of 80 KPH. [F] It is 60 KPH

T/F One of the dangers of high speed is the severity of collisions increases. [T]

Time to wait after an accident to drink alcohol is 6 hours. This is an American regulation, not a German law.

I passed the test (whew!!), but a question that I missed addressed whether or not German Police have the authority to use physical force to get a driver to submit to a drug or urine test. Apparently THEY DO!

Yep. They do. That is one of the questions on the practice test.

The following is from the manual which can be downloaded from our site:

The following is the question from the manual, and on the practice test at our site:

Talking Test Questions

Is the format for the signs practice test the exact way that your knowledge of the signs will be tested on the actual exam?

Sure is. On the actual test you will be given a column of signs, and a column of descriptions with a letter next to each description. You will have to put the proper description letter next to the proper sign.

Our test is as close to the real thing as you can get.

If you care to help us, THIS is a great way.

I took the test last week (3 July) and passed it. This post by mrsvincent was the most helpful post I read in reference to taking the driving test. I really needed my car on 4 July and for a whole lot of other reasons.

I am happy that you were helped by that post, but just so you know, most of the info in that post was presented to you in the videos that are shown to you just before you take your exam, as well as presented to you on our practice test website. This is why we stress watching the videos. There are so many people who just skip to the practice test, memorize it, and then take the test. That will help you pass, but you miss all of the questions that come from the videos.

Congrats on passing! Now stay out of my way, and remember that the next round is on you.

Just in case anyone else gets confused by this conflicting information...the Module 2 video regarding right of way states " (3:17)vehicles entering, must yield to vehicles already in a traffic circle". This however conflicts with the beginning of the video (0:17) which states "when traffic signs are absent, vehicles coming from the right have the right-of-way at intersections, junctions, and traffic circles". The statement about yielding to traffic in traffic circles also conflicts with AE Pamphlet 190-34 USAFE Pamphlet 31-206, 19(b) When traffic signs are absent, vehicles coming from the right have the right-of-way at intersections, junctions, and traffic circles. As well as 19(k) vehicles in a traffic circle do not have the right-of-way over vehicles entering the traffic circle unless traffic signs at the entrance of the traffic circle indicate otherwise.

What I've learned is apparently the key is the sign with the arrows going in a circle, which indicate a traffic circle, is also supposed to tell you the the traffic in that circle has the right of way.

It was all very confusing and spinning my head in circles, so hopefully this will help someone else out.
