Hello!

I know I have a lot of questions for not even arriving for another 5 months...but what can I say? We're planners!

My son is 12 and he plays select, "travel" (highly competitive) soccer here in Northern Virginia. Can anyone give me the contact information for a person there who knows about youth sports? He will be a 7th grader in the next school year, so I don't think there is a school team for his age group. I know when we lived in Stuttgart (2003-06) there were youth sports. But, at that stage of my life, I only learned about the recreational sports league not this crazy travel league...

Also, my daughter will be in 9th grade and we plan to live in the Ramstein HS attendance area. If anyone can provide any info re: the HS volleyball opportunities for freshmen, I would be very appreciative!

Thanks!

LHS

LHS,
You have the same questions I had prior to my arrival here. I have two girls who play competitive soccer. Nothing agiants JOFTAA options however youth sports for your childs level of play is not going to cut it. I am providing a link to a program here that does training and are great point of contacts to get your child on a team. I did the same with them and now my girls are playing on a German Soccer club that is one of the best in the area. Our club does have boys teams and I can try to get a phone number and POC for you if you wish but normaly finding a club close to where you live is best. http://www.prosocacademy.com/
Good luck, hope this helps.

Thank you, that is a great help! I thought perhaps the military youth programs would be limited to the rec level. So, I'm going to look into the one you have mentioned. I hope that we don't miss "try outs" for the fall, arriving in early summer... But, one day at a time as we get ready for the PCS. :)

please let me know if i can help you further. No body will really get you on a team here until you are here and they see you play. Dont get discouraged.
