My parents are coming for a visit soon and would like to travel by train for some sightseeing so they can stop off along the way. They have found 3 country, 7 day, 1st class tickets for $910. Does this seem like a good deal? I had gone on the DB sight and can only find a deal for the "group" discount for $960 converting from Euro, and for only a 6 day pass. TIA!

My suggestion would be to go to the train station in either Landstuhl or Kaiserslautern and speak directly with the ticket agent. The ticket agents know all of the deals that are available.
I have priced tickets online at bahn.de, only to find a much better price by going to the train station in person.

Thanks, you always know what the inside info is :animatedwink: BTW I tried that hotel booking website you rec. for our Prague trip but it kept error messages when I tried checking out the individual hotels...might have been a server problem. We ended up having to cancel our trip due to a sick kid, so I look forward to hearing about your Turkey day adventure and "must see" places.

I will most definitely post when I get back. I am looking forward to the trip! Sorry you had to cancel yours.

We've looked at doing the train thing for multiple destinations but never committed to it because of the increased cost it would take for taxi's and other transportation. Of the many places we've visited since being in Europe, most of the sites were not within walking distance to the train stations.
We have found it cheaper to either drive or fly to most places. The German train system is freaking expensive IMO.
