Greetings all,
I am in need of some assistance and am hoping someone here can help or point me in the right direction. I am due to PCS back to the states and I have a African Grey Parrot. We have had him for 16 plus years and brought him with us when we came to Germany in 2006. Long story short, I guess we didn't have all of the correct paperwork when we brought him in to the country but no one said anything at the time, customs etc. We found this out as we are trying to leave. We needed some paperwork from both the German and American Government to get the bird back to the states. I have the German Government paperwork... Took less than a week! Still waiting for the paperwork from two different agencies in the states. The pet shipping company will not ship back without all the paperwork and most airlines will not transport birds as either carry on or as checked luggage. I need to find a pet service that will take care of birds just in case we don't receive the import certificates in time. I have searched all over for a pet service that will take care of the bird until the paperwork comes in without any luck. Once the paperwork comes in the pet shipping service will pick him up and then ship him back to the states. I asked them and they supposedly can put him up in a pet hotel for 30 euros a day. If it takes a month to get the proper paperwork (You know how Government agencies work) that could be a significant amount of money. Does anyone here know of a kennel/sitting service that will take birds?
Thanks
