Are there any good German food places within walking distance of Sembach? This will be my first trip to Germany and really want to try some their food.

Depends on how far you want to walk, and where in Sembach you are. The Wooden Spoon is very good. I ate there the other night. You can find the info here (http://www.everythingkmc.com/showthread.php?t=12845).

Also, I believe The Irish Pub is in Sembach.

Thank you. I will be staying on the base. Doesn't look too far to the town from there. I'll have to give that place a try while I'm there.

It is a decent walk from Sembach Kaserne to the Wooden Spoon, but hey you will build up an appetite on the way there and burn off some calories on the way back! Just follow the main road down through the village until you see a bakery on your left and take the road up to your left to the Wooden Spoon. The german/english sign will be on the side of the bakery. Restaurant zum. Kochlöffel/Wooden Spoon.

The Irish Pub is further up the B40, not really walking distance. The Irish House is Across the Street from the Barbarossahof Hotel near Kleber Kaserne.

The Irish Pub is more of a drinking hole (good Guinness though, had my first one just the other day) although they did start to serve some food but not sure how consistent they serve it. A much better place to eat in that immediate area is IDYLL. Great German food, great location (in the woods), a terrace in the back and a terrace in the front. Hans and most of his staff speaks English. Needless to say, it's not in walking distance to Sembach ;)
