Snow tires can be put on your car today, if you have the desire to do so now.

It is allowed to have M+S (=winter) tires on your car all year long (afaik).... you can also drive with summer tires in winter, you are just allowed to drive on "winter road conditions" (=snow and ice)

btw. M+S stands for Matsch und Schnee or Mud and Snow ;)

I was told at a German tire dealer today that snow tires were not supposed to be on cars except for during Winter because they do not handle the same.

Of course winter tires are better on snow, but it just supposed to have them on the cars when there is snow. Whilst there isnt that much snow here, the chances that there is snow is obviously bigger in winter than in summer ;););)

....just wanted to say that snow tires are legal to drive in summer (or autumn + fall) (and vice versa)

They are legal to use, but I would not want to use them. The ride is much harsher than all weather tires, for one thing.

And, this past winter was very harsh. More snow here than had been seen in decades. This winter is supposed to be very harsh as well.

I am going to toss my winter tires on my car now. Mainly because I don't want to order my all weather tires quite yet. I am waiting for the all weather tires to go on sale for a lower price before I order them.

We just have all season tires on our car.

Us, too. After driving in the snow and ice last Winter, we are putting on snow tires. It was brutal using all weather tires.
