Hey guys I wanted to share a trip that we are doing next month and hopefully update it a bit as we go.

We are heading to Normandy and will be gone 3 days. I have booked a tour with a gentleman named Edward Robinson. I have found nothing but awesome reviews from him and have spoken with him on the phone several times. He is very very knowledgeable and fun to talk with. His website is below.

Edward has taken information from me on my Grandfather who landed on D-Day at Juno Beach and will be taking me to the site where he landed and show me the route that his unit took and where their battles were. I was able to provide quite a bit about him from his division all the way down along with photos of him with his Anti-Tank Gun, Edward has already told me plenty about his movements!

We will be staying at La Sapiniere Hotel which is on Omaha Beach.

I will post a few pictures and let you know how it went. I think that this is something that many of us will want to check out so hopefully I can provide something here that will be helpful.

Hey ojinaga,

We stayed at La Sapiniere (http://www.la-sapiniere.fr/) (click link) which is right on Omaha Beach. The stay was wonderful and the hotel was nice to deal with, it is right at Omaha Beach and very close to several museums and other attractions.

We had our private tour with Edward Robinson (http://www.battleofnormandytours.com/d-day-tours.html)(click link) of D-Day Tours. He was absolutely amazing! My only complaint is that we did not spend more time with him. We spend 1 full 9 hour day touring with him and we felt like we only touched the tip of his knowledge on the area. This is an experience that you do not want to miss. If you go you want to use Edward for your tours.

Stay where ever you want but dont go with some bigger outfit that takes you in their busses and all that.. Edward talks with you and sees what you are interested in and suits the tour to fit what you want to see.

I have given Ed all of the information on my Grandfather who landed on Juno Beach on D-Day and he is going to take us along with my mother when she visits on a custom 2 day tour of his landing site and the path that he took in!

As for transportation, we drove there and will drive there again when we go next. I drive everywhere and it was very simple for me to navigate to without GPS so I would not hesitate to say it is a nice safe way to get there. We then did the tour with Ed in our own car and did enjoy that.

If you have any more questions let me know

What route did you take to get to the Normandy area? We are driving there this weekend and think it is wise to avoid any route that goes near Paris. We are looking at going North to St. Quentin then back south on the E44.
