I need some good Mexican food. Fast. Before I venture out to one of the Mexican restaurants in the area, I figured I would look here for your opinions.
Whose go the best Mexican food in the KMC?
Thanks.

I have been to both, Cantina Mexicana and Hacienda.
I find the taco meat at both restaurants a bit over seasoned for my taste, but I really enjoy the fajitas as Cantina Mexicana. I had steak fajitas during lunch and there was more food than I could eat. There was steak, with grilled peppers and onions along with lettuce and tomato.
Also included was refried beans and rice. Of course, you also get chips and salsa brought to the table until you can't eat any more. And, free refills on your non-alcoholic beverage.
Back to the fajitas. They were very good. The only suggestion I would make is to include a third tortilla to wrap the meat, onions, and peppers with. Two tortillas is just shy of what is needed for the large portion of steak.
Maybe next time I will try a Mexican beer with my food instead of a soft drink.

The only other place I can think of other than the Hacienda and Cantina is Chilis! LOL I don't love any of the Mexican food here, though.

I'd rather eat sand than eat at Chili's.
I am from an area of the U.S. where Mexican food is everywhere. Right near the Homestead Air Reserve Base in Homestead, Florida, are a bunch of very authentic Mexican restaurants. The ones here are more Tex-Mex. With Cantina Mexicana and Hacienda really being the only two choices here, I am glad they at least offer up some good food. I would not call it "love" either, but it meets the criteria for getting rid of the Mexican food craving.
I just wish someone around here knew how to make some really good salsa. I'd offer to share a recipe, but I doubt anyone would be interested at either of the restaurants. I make some good salsa that is not really too hot at all, but it is very tasty. Hot for the sake of hot is not my thing. I want salsa that tastes good.

OMG!!! I would love a good salsa recipe!! I'm with you, I miss good salsa!! I used to like Chili's (the one at Ft. Bragg), but the one here is terrible! I don't know if it's b/c they don't have much competition or what. Their chips are WAY too salty also! How do you mess up chips?

My wife almost took a job at Fort Bragg. I am glad she took this one, instead.
I'll compile my salsa recipe and post it soon. I have to find my index card with the recipe. It may still be packed in our boxes.

That would be awesome! Ft. Bragg is good for us b/c hubby and I are both from Spartanburg, SC and we are only 4 hours from our entire family from Bragg. Fayetteville isn't the greatest place to live but not the worst. I'm ready to get back to the states!!

When do you head back? I've still got nearly 2 years left. But, I am having a great time. It is like a huge vacation for me.

We should be leaving sometime this October. We've done a lot of great things here but I'm super attached to my family so I'm ready to be close to home again.
